Welcome to our licensing guide
An introduction from David Sines (CBE), Chair and Registrar of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP)
Welcome to the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) update on the Government’s licensing scheme for England, co-produced with Hamilton Fraser, the UK’s leading cosmetic insurance provider. With industry change on the horizon, we have produced a comprehensive guide to help support practitioners as we navigate the upcoming changes within the non-surgical aesthetic sector.
Our guide covers key details related to the Health and Care Act 2022 which gives the Government powers to introduce a licensing scheme for aesthetic practitioners completing non-surgical cosmetic procedures in England. The Government have opened a consultation, which is a crucial and impactful part of the planning phase for the new licensing scheme. This gives practitioners the opportunity to express their opinions regarding the proposal which will help to shape the future of the sector.
This guide aims to provide an ‘indicative’ guide and should not be regarded as authoritative or final with regard to its content. Rather, the guide has been put together to help colleagues frame their responses to enquiries presented by local stakeholders.
It is important to also note that the Department of Health and Social Care is at a very early stage in shaping the proposed licensing scheme. We will learn more over the coming months which will undoubtedly require us to update and amend the responses cited in this paper. Please check back regularly for the latest information on the consultation and its progress.
